Memory Scopes · Last updated 2 October 2026
This policy explains what Memory Scopes (the "plugin"), published by Auteur, collects when you use it inside ChatGPT, why, and what control you have.
What we collect and process
- The memories you choose to save, edit or import, stored word for word in the named scopes you pick (for example “Acme client” or “Personal”), with each memory's kind, pin and dates.
- Text or files you ask to import are read once to pull out memories; only the extracted memories are kept, never the file itself. Your chat history is never sent.
- A hashed, anonymous version of your ChatGPT user id, so only you can see your memories. We never receive your name or email address.
ChatGPT sends us an anonymous user identifier with each request. We never receive your name, e-mail address or chat history. We store only a one-way hash of that identifier so your saved items stay yours. We do not ask for or accept passwords, payment details, government identifiers or health records.
Why
Only to perform the action you asked the plugin to do and to show you the result. We do not sell data, show ads, build advertising profiles, or use your content to train models.
Who receives it
- No one else. Memories are stored in our database on Cloudflare, our hosting provider, and are never shared, sold or used for training.
How long we keep it
Memories are kept until you delete them. Deleting a memory, or a whole scope, erases it from our database immediately. Anything that looks like a password, API key, card number or ID number is refused and never stored. Server logs that may contain IP addresses are kept by our hosting provider for up to 7 days for security.
Your controls
- See every saved memory, scope by scope, in the Memory Scopes card, or ask ChatGPT to list your scopes.
- Edit, pin, move or delete any single memory from the card or by asking ChatGPT, or delete a whole scope in one step.
- Export any scope, or everything, as Markdown or JSON at any time.
- Only the scope you ask for is loaded into a chat; your other scopes stay out of it.
Children
The plugin is not directed at children under 13.
